Call For Webelos – 2013 Camporee

Webelos Families –

The Wapehani Spring Camporee is coming up fast.  The Camporee is April 26th – April 28th at the Monroe County Airport. Our Webelos have been invited as guests of Troop 148, and can attend the Camporee with them.  This is for Webelos Scouts only, I believe family including younger scout siblings can camp with their Webelos scout but the activities and events are Merit Badge oriented with limited class sizes.  So only Webelos Scouts will be included in the Merit Badge classes.

The information on the Council website (http://tinyurl.com/crrhab7)  has some confusing errors regarding the dates and deadlines.  As far as I can tell, the Early Registration Fee is $10/scouter if registered before 4/19 and $15/scouter after 4/19.  There is some confusion, the Troop was told the Early Registration Deadline is tomorrow so not sure if it will be $10 or $15 for Webelos to attend.

I need the names of Webelos attending so I can collect the Registrations fee’s and get the list to Scoutmaster Jim so he can make sure our Webelos are registered to attend.  I need this information as soon as possible so please let me know by Monday’s Pack Meeting so Jim can register the additional Webelos and get us the details.

Thank you!!

2013 Blue and Gold Banquet

Thank you to everyone for making our 2013 Blue and Gold banquet a great evening.  Special thanks are owed to our wonderful leaders who do so much for our boys on a daily basis.  Your Den Leaders are all great role models for our boys and do so much to support them and allow the boys to do their best!

Our leadership:

  • Jesse Bloom and Traci Dodds (Tigers)
  • Heather Clinger and Aaron Craig (Wolves)
  • Bill Clinger, Jason Blessing and Scott Schooley (Bears)
  • Edd Threlkeld and April Schooley (Webelos 1)
  • Jay Smith and Mark Werczynski  (Webelos 2)

Thank you also to the other unsung hero’s of this pack:

  • Laura Threlkeld who had to deal with case of the missing celebration cake at the cake maker and still was able to get us setup and looking great for our Blue and Gold Banquet.
  • Michael Halla for always being our support and bridge with the Church.  We are very lucky to have such a great liaison with the St. Paul and on our Committee.
  • Charles Pope who at the last minute was able to get to the newly opened Scout Office and picked up, labeled, organized and presented all of the awards.  This plus putting together our rank advancement ceremonies.
  • Jay Smith for always being there, ready to help at the drop of the hat and for helping with the rank ceremony presentations.
  • Bill Clinger and the Bear Den for our Color Guard duties.
  • Edd Threlkeld for staying late again to make sure everything in the Brashaber hall was back in order, vacuumed,  and better than we found it.

Cub Scouts Cutting A Radio Spot For Spirit 95

This morning some of  our Scouts got to take a tour of the Spirit 95 radio station.  A big THANK YOU to Jim Webster for being our tour guide today, the boys and parents had a blast!  We got to see behind the scenes of the radio station and even got to send out a test of the Emergency Broadcast System the station uses during bad weather events to warn the public of weather conditions.  So anyone listening today around 10:30am to Spirit 95 can blame the Cub Scouts for breaking in on their regularly scheduled programming with an Emergency Test.  🙂

In addition to the great tour, the boys actually got to cut a radio commercial that will air on Spirit 95’s morning programming!  We will be getting a copy for the boys parents but tune in Monday morning to hear their commercial play live on Spirit 95.  Below are some pictures of the “DJ’s” in action.

Shoe Box Drive

If you would like to help the Kid’s Choice Nutrition & Physical Activity Program, please bring empty shoe boxes to the November Pack Meeting or the next Den Meetings.  We will be collecting the shoe boxes over the next couple of weeks so please help!  They need approximately 60 empty shoe boxes (no smelly shoes needing disposed of please.  🙂 ) so anything we can help with will be greatly appreciated!  Link below for the flyer (Wanted Posted) if you want to print and handout.

This is for the Kid’s Choice Nutrition & Physical Activity Program, at Stinesville Elementary and Edgewood Primary (latch key K-2). The boxes will be used for each student to construct a Daily Fruit & Vegetable counter. We’ll use cord/twine to attach beads with. Kids can move one bead per day for each fruit/vegetable serving.
